A rare and exciting opportunity is now available in the AXA XL team for an Underwriter to support and grow the department's insurance product in the Benelux region.

At the crux of this role is the ability to underwrite risks for the product line and support Brokers/Clients in understanding our product and finding tailor-made solutions for the individual Client. All with a chance to develop within the insurance industry in a supportive team led by experienced industry professionals.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Underwriting, managing, and growing the Event Cancellation / Contingency insurance portfolio in line with the business plan
  • Reviewing submissions, including policy wording, risk information, and financial reports, while conducting appropriate research to determine the degree of risk for each account
  • Developing the offering to this segment and executing on AXA XL International’s plans for the Benelux region
  • Actively supporting the Specialty underwriting team on the Fine Arts and Species side
  • Proactively advising, servicing and following up with clients on insurance and risk management matters, and actively identifying opportunities for cross-selling AXA XL’s products
  • Assisting in the introduction of new products where opportunities arise
  • Controlling the timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to quality standards. 
  •         Maintaining awareness of all claims advised
  •         Building and maintaining relationships with brokers and clients

You will be based in one of AXA XL’s offices in the Benelux and will report to the Underwriting Manager Specialties. The position requires limited travelling, both domestically and abroad.

SHARE your talent

We’re looking for someone with the following qualifications and skills:

  • Good knowledge of the insurance market and several years of experience working with relevant business lines within insurance or related industry
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field
  • Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation
  • IT literacy, with moderate Microsoft Office package literacy as a minimum
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English and Dutch. Knowledge of French is a plus
  • Passionate about doing business, negotiating, and driving growth in a competitive market. 
  • Organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise while keeping both individual and team best interests in mind
  • A team player, able to work independently, with an open mind, and an ambition to learn and grow. Ability to train others and act as a mentor for more junior positions
